Migraines, Barometric Pressure, and My Sad Microwave Broccoli.

Woke Up at 2AM With Tingly Limbs… So Yeah, a Storm’s Coming

Let me set the scene: It’s 2AM. I’m not dreaming, I’m not peacefully snoozing, I’m wide awake because my arms and legs feel like they’re fizzing. Not in a cute La Croix way. In a “my nerves are throwing a rave and I wasn’t invited” kind of way. And when that happens, I know what’s next — yep, a storm is rolling in.

If you also experience migraines with auras, hi. We are weather forecasters. We are sensitive little forest creatures trying to exist in the chaos that is the modern world.

Wait… What Even Is a Migraine?

Like genuinely. These things completely derail people’s lives (mine included), and we still don’t totally know what they are. How?? It’s 2025. We have robot vacuums and AI art and oat milk that tastes like melted oatmeal cookies, but no one can explain why my brain throws a full tantrum every time it rains? Wild.

For me, the aura is the star of the show. Tingling limbs, weird vision, that floaty feeling that’s somehow both too much and not enough — that’s my main symptom now. The head pain? Weirdly less intense thanks to my Botox injections (shout out to modern medicine and also the fact that I’m technically getting wrinkle prevention as a bonus).

Triggers: AKA Why I Can’t Eat Like a Normal Human

My main migraine triggers are:

  • Barometric pressure changes (just say you’re allergic to the sky)
  • Gluten (which sucks because I love bread more than most people)
  • Random chemicals in foods (WHY does “natural flavour” feel like betrayal?)
  • Not eating properly or getting dehydrated (because apparently my brain needs fuel?? Rude)

What Actually Helps Me

Okay, here are the things I try to stick to (keyword: try — I’m still a tired uni girl with ADHD, not a wellness guru):

  • Electrolyte drinks daily — BioSteel is my go-to because it doesn’t make me jittery.
  • Whole foods when I can manage it. Nothing fancy, just real ingredients.
  • Magnesium supplements before bed (ask your doctor before starting — I’m not tryna get sued).

My go-to easy migraine-safe meal: salmon with olive oil, salt, lemon, and dill in the air fryer + microwave-steamed broccoli with butter. It takes like 12 minutes, and I feel like a functioning adult after.

Final Thoughts: Migraines Suck

There’s no punchline here. They just suck. They’re unpredictable, they hijack your day, and sometimes you feel like your whole body is rebelling against you. If you’re navigating migraines too, I’m sending you so much love — and a gentle reminder that you’re not alone, even if it feels like your brain is gaslighting you at 2AM.
